I have a lamp that I like very much but the cement base crumbled away and it was falling over due to being top heavy. This umbrella base was a perfect fix so I can still use the lamp. The base is hidden by a chair, so I am not worried about the look.

Did you know that the hole where you insert the pole actually has 3 plastic attachments in it to fit various sized poles? I discovered it accidently. I don’t know if this is common in all umbrella bases, but I thought that I’d share that with other people if you didn’t know about it. Anyways, 2 of the attachments are at the very top of the hole. It’s camouflaged because it’s the same black color. You may have to use a flat head screwdriver to wedge it off. The last attachment is inside the hole after you wedge off the first 2. All 3 of the attachments are all a little bit different size. So if you have a really thin pole, you can use all 3 attachments. If you have a thicker pole, you can take out each of them until you get the right fit.
The base is a good design. I have nothing to complain about. I use it as a beach umbrella stand in my yard, because I don’t have a patio table yet to put this under. This base works fantastically as a small and simple yard patio setup. Easy to move, although heavy at 25lbs. With a beach umbrella, gusts of even 10-12mph doesn’t tilt or bother this base at all. The side of the base’s pole insert has 2 screws to tighten the umbrella pole down. It’s really simple and easy to use.
We like this Mainstays umbrella base. It’s low profile, isn’t huge, and has 3 attachments to work with different sized umbrella poles. It also works really well with a small yard umbrella – even a beach umbrella. I wouldn’t take this to the beach though. It’s meant to stay stationary in the yard. We really like it – we’re always talking about getting some expensive large patio umbrellas and patio furniture for the outside to complete our home, but those are all expensive. When we saw how this small base and our cheap beach umbrella (that’s been with us for 10 years) and a camping chair makes our yard so cozy and home-y already, we realize sometimes thinking outside the box can yield just as good of a result.

Very sturdy base. It didn’t come with instructions but it was easy to figure out how to screw in the piece where you insert the umbrella holder to the base. I tried it with a smaller umbrella that I have and it held my umbrella perfectly. You can adjust the base where you insert the umbrella to hold umbrellas of different sizes This is an item that will last a lifetime and I’m excited to put it to great use this Spring and Summer!
